    She previously held roles at Brightpoint Community College, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Norfolk State University. After 32 years of dedicated service, she retired from state government in 2023. A committed lifelong learner, Aretha earned an Associate of Science degree in General Studies (summa cum laude) from Brightpoint Community College and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Communications.

    Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Aretha enjoys engaging in community activities and has been actively involved in book clubs, including the Sistah Girl Book Club. She appreciates stories that inspire resilience and triumph, as well as historical fiction and suspense. With a deep appreciation for learning and personal growth, Aretha always seeks new opportunities to connect, contribute, and make a meaningful impact.
